Anje's Story
I grew up with a love for animals, particularly with the dogs and horses I grew up with. Having practically lived in the horse stables with my dogs by my side, I dreamed of pursuing any career I possibly could obtain to stay close to the animals I had grown an affinity for.
The dream of Ruff-N-It started 20 years ago when I went to work at a pet boarding facility. After merely two days on the job I knew this was what I was meant to do. It was during this time that I began my journey into dog training. As I gained experience, my dream developed. I realized that I wanted to provide a fun and nurturing environment for pets and owners to feel comfortable in.
But, life had other plans.
I later went to work in the medical field, training dogs and pet sitting on the side when possible. I continued with this until 2003 when my son McKade was born. Being born with cleft lip and palate, I knew he would need multiple surgeries and care. As a parent, putting my responsibilities for my son first, I had to put my dog training and pet sitting duties on the back burner.
My Dream Became a Reality
It wasn’t until 2014 that, with the encouragement of my family, support from my fiancé at the time (now my husband) Les, and the blessing of God, I was able to break away from the medical field and make Ruff-N-It a reality.
On November 21, 2014, Ruff-N-Its doors opened up.
Today, I enjoy every moment while living my dream! I cherish the time I have with my son, and I greatly relish family time!
Les & I married on March 24, 2018; our 6th year anniversary of having met.
Today I currently reside with four precious dogs (one of which is my award-winning Border Collie, Zayne) in Dallas, Georgia.
